About:
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Dec. 10, 2013) – This past Saturday, the Molloy College cheerleading team went over to East Rockaway High School for the 3-on-3 basketball memorial tournament in honor of Patrick Xavier Owens. Patrick was a child who attended the school and passed away at the age of four.
Every year, East Rockaway High School holds this event to raise money and awareness for ACDS — an organization on Long Island serving children and adults with Down Syndrome, autism and other developmental disabilities. Some of the money also went to East Rockaway athletics as all of their equipment was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy last year.
The cheerleading squad assisted with selling raffle tickets and promoting good spirit.
“Cheerleaders are important to have at an event like this because they keep the good spirit going,” commented Head Cheerleading Coach Caitlin Donach.
