About:
In honor of the holiday season, students at Cherokee Street Elementary School in the Connetquot Central School District once again worked on a project to help raise funding for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, in association with Macy’s “Believe” campaign.
Along with Cherokee Street Elementary School Student Council advisers Nadine Kenna and Ryan Cavanagh, the students wrote letters and drew colorful holiday scenes for Santa which were delivered to the Lake Grove Macy’s store on Dec. 8, which is “National Believe Day.”
“Macy’s donated $1 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation for each letter submitted by Dec. 7,” said Mrs. Kenna. “Cherokee students were thrilled to have to exceeded last year’s total of 475 letters by five letters this year.”
The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions, and to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Additionally, Macy’s is committed to donating up to $1 million to the “Believe” campaign this year.
