About:

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, members of Jonas E. Salk Middle School’s Connections Club continued their mission of bridging the school community together just in time for Valentine’s Day. Under the guidance of club adviser JoAnn Papach, the members recently coordinated a cheer-o-gram fundraiser to spread kindness around the school building and to help support the Shabby Tabby Cat Cafe in Sayville.

Club members advertised the $3 cheer-o-grams around the school with homemade posters and as students and staff dropped off their orders, the members attached their messages to cards and a stuffed animal. Due to the school’s current hybrid model, the members delivered the cheer-o-grams to unsuspecting recipients during the course of two days to allow for the different cohorts to be in the school building. One Salk student even purchased a cheer-o-gram for each teacher who will be retiring this year. The cheer-o-grams were an exciting way to spread joy and connect the school community during this unprecedented time.
