About:
I would love to tell you about the mental health awareness event that my track team took part in. I am a part of a mental health awareness group called The Hidden Opponent that advocates for mental health awareness of student-athletes. The track team paired with a smaller chapter of The Hidden Opponent at my high school to raise awareness by wearing green clothing and green ribbons, the color for mental health awareness. There are about 100 athletes on my track team and they took part in wearing green. The track meet was about five hours long, so that was the duration of the hours donated by my team towards the cause. We chose to take part in this cause because of the growing importance of the topic in our world today. We took part in the event hoping that the next time people think about mental health they think about all the athletes who wore green in support. We are all hoping to help in ending the stigma around mental health!
