About:
Cold Spring Harbor Junior High eighth grade students have been embarking on a “Year of Service” involving a series of STEAM projects for the 2024-2025 school year. Kicking off the initiative was the “Pizza Box Project,” where students designed and created pizza box covers in teacher Ann McLam’s art classes and shopping bags in Morgan Milleisen’s technology classes for this fundraising event.
The unveiling and opening display of the artwork was held at DiRaimo’s Pizzeria in Huntington on the evening of Jan. 22. Given the timing of the event, fundraising proceeds were donated to the victims of the California wildfires.
The “Year of Service” includes both seventh and eighth grade students identifying needs within their schools and out in the community. Seventh graders will be visiting elementary classrooms to determine where they can fundraise or support with donations, while eighth graders are identifying areas of need throughout Cold Spring Harbor and beyond.
