About:
The Columbia Kicks Cancer Team was involved with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Student Campaign. The team was led by two student-athletes, Julia Harbour and Rachel Ostiguy. The team had several others on the team working towards fundraising and volunteering on this campaign. The team was made up of 8 total Columbia High School students, all of which do participate in athletics.
The team held many fundraising events for this cause and worked tirelessly to make this campaign a success. The students organized raffles, events and various functions. The students held dine to donate events at Chipotle, Bubbakoo’s Burritos and set up a Hoffman’s Car Wash fundraiser.
-The students organized a Parents Night Out Event, having parents sign up to drop their children off at our High School to be supervised by the LLS team and advisors for fun activities in the gym, auditorium and cafeteria for the evening.
-The students organized a Red Out at one of our Basketball games to raise awareness, collect donations and raffle off some prizes.
-The students organized a Golf Tournament at a local golf simulator establishment.
-The students organized a Youth Lacrosse Clinic, allowing families to provide donations towards that cause. The LLS team and members of the Boys & Girls Lacrosse teams put on the event.
These students put extreme effort into this great cause and took a lot of pride in doing so! The team raised a total of $67,000.
