The Commack School District celebrated an inspiring day of fitness, fun, and community spirit as Burr Intermediate School hosted its annual Mini-Marathon in memory of Shana Kay.
Students challenged themselves to complete a loop around the school’s perimeter, embodying the perseverance and enthusiasm of future marathoners. Lending their support, members of the Commack High School Varsity Cross Country Teams paused their own training to lead classes through the course, cheer on runners, and hand out medals as each participant crossed the finish line.
Staff and family members also joined in, making the event a true community celebration of health, determination, and togetherness.
The Shana Kay Memorial Foundation, which honors Shana’s memory through scholarships and school projects, continues to make this event a meaningful tradition that encourages students to set goals, stay active, and support one another.
