About:
The Brighton Central School District holds a district wide community service day each spring during which various community service projects are completed by students in each grade level from K-12. As part of this program, the Brighton Boys Varsity and JV Lacrosse Teams organized and led a project to support the Golisano Children’s Hospital with the entire BHS Freshman Class.
Under the leadership of the Boys Lacrosse Teams, the freshman class helped to create and assemble 280 activity kits and notes of encouragement for pediatric cancer patients, GCH patients, and pediatric ER patients. Each kit was comprised of twelve items, including various toys, art supplies, puzzles, and games, along with a positive note, for distribution to pediatric patients at the Golisano Children’s Hospital. Our Girls Field Hockey Teams also worked alongside the Boys Lacrosse Teams in the freshman homerooms on the creation of birthday cards for children in the Make-A-Wish program.
The photos include the event along with the delivery of the activity kits to Wendy Lane, Child Life Coordinator at Golisano Children’s Hospital, by our Varsity Lacrosse Captains, Thomas D’Angelo, Trevor Servé, Kieran Hughes, and Aksel Stanat.

Today is Brighton Believes day at the High School. The Brighton Boys Lacrosse Program and the Girls Field Hockey program will be visiting 9th-grade homerooms to engage in community service projects.
The Brighton Boys Lacrosse program will guide the 9th-grade homerooms in assembling tactile bags for the Golisano Children’s Hospital. Approximately 50 lacrosse players will assist in putting together 280 bags, with the collaboration of the 9th-grade class.
Similarly, the Brighton Field Hockey program will visit 9th-grade homerooms to instruct students in making Birthday Cards for the Make-A-Wish foundation. We have a list of 19 Make-A-Wish clients who will receive the cards we make today in June. Around 25 Field Hockey participants will be involved in this activity.
“I am so proud of both of our programs for all the preparatory work they have put into these activities and cannot wait to see what they will produce. The kids really step up for these community service projects!
