About:
Jaiden Vargas is a 10 th grade student at Comsewogue High School and member of the
baseball team who was diagnosed with Leukemia in June 2025. Upon hearing of his
diagnosis, the baseball team wanted to show their solidarity towards him in his battle by
designing a t-shirt to raise awareness and wear it during the upcoming baseball season.
Through local business donations and a collection taken up by the baseball booster club
parents we purchased extra shirts to sell in the school district with all proceeds and
donations going to Jaiden’s family. The team’s efforts included selling the shirts during
lunch periods and after school events. They also started an Instagram page
(@fightwithJaiden) for Jaiden’s fight so that students could post a picture of themselves
wearing the shirt or message him with well wishes while he has been out of school
getting treatment. This upcoming Friday, 12/10, the high school has arranged a day
where anyone who purchased a t-shirt wears it in school that day and stays after school
hours to take pictures and post it to Jaiden’s social media site.
