About:
In celebration of the holiday season, Connetquot High School students who lend their time to a number of the school’s extracurricular clubs and activities put their best foot forward to bring out a few more smiles this past holiday season.
Members of the Future Teachers of America Club recently visited Walmart to purchase pajamas and toys for children in need. For every pair of pajamas collected, children’s holiday wishes were further extended as Scholastic donated a book to go along with the collected sets of pajamas.
The district would like to thank Edward J. Bosti Elementary School Youth and Family Services Coordinator Ryan McGuckin for his assistance with the fundraiser, along with Connetquot High School teacher Melissa Koster for bringing the collected toys to the “Matthew’s Wish” organization.
In order to supply the funding for the purchases of the pajamas and toys, the FTA Club students sold candy and pizza after school.
Additionally, student-members from Connetquot High School’s Helping Hands and Interact Clubs recently paid a visit to the Barnes & Noble located at the Smith Haven Mall for an altruistic gift-wrapping activity. During the course of two Saturdays in December, the students assisted the community by wrapping gifts which were generously donated by individuals looking to give back this holiday season.
