About:
In their second consecutive year of participation, the Girls Basketball team has once again united to support their community by collecting toys for the Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben & Tompkins County Toys for Tots campaign. This year’s efforts were truly a community-wide endeavor, with the team actively promoting the drive through various channels. They took to their social media platforms, spread the word within the community, and adorned the school with eye-catching posters.
The collective effort of the Waverly Team and Coaches, along with the support of Simmons-Rockwell Chevrolet in Bath for facilitating toy collection and Kabric’s for printing their warm-up shirts, made this year’s Toy Drive a remarkable success. The Girls Basketball team extends their heartfelt thanks to students, staff, and spectators for generously contributing to this cause. Together, they proved that unity can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need. — Information provided by James Nichols (Basketball Coach Corning Painted Post High School)
“At the Middle School we are hosting a week for toys to be donated. So far we have filled one bin. Announcements went out to parents/caregivers and students to help and bring in a toy. Tomorrow is our first home basketball game. Our main event where we anticipate many toys to be donated. Our sports teams are helping by spreading the message and bringing in items. They are doing a great job with this community service project.”
— Jennifer Burrell (Athletic Manager Corning Painted Post Middle School)
Middle schools final number was 103 toys collected and the high school collected 174!
