About:
Covert Avenue School recently held a Give Up to Give fundraiser to benefit the Family and Children’s Association, which is dedicated to protecting and strengthening Long Island’s most vulnerable children, seniors, families and communities.
The fundraiser asked teachers, students and their families to give up something they would normally spend money on, such as Starbucks or other comforts, and donate the money they would have spent to help Nassau County families and children in need. Each time a student gave up something and donated money to the worthy cause, their photo was taken and displayed in the school building.
The class that raised the most money received a pizza party for their efforts. Congratulations to Maria Losquadro’s third-grade class. In all, Covert Avenue students raised $1,100 for the organization.
