About:
In recognition of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the Daniela Conte Foundation (DCF) brought together the Suffolk County School District’s Athletics Program and community supporters throughout September for the annual “Go Gold Shoelace Campaign.” Focused on raising awareness and accelerating funding for pediatric cancer research and treatment, the campaign engaged schools across Suffolk County to bring attention to the critical funding gap in pediatric cancer. Through this initiative, students sparked important conversations about childhood cancer, helping to raise over $10,000 with the support of 40 schools and 15 youth sports teams across the county.
A diagnosis of pediatric cancer profoundly impacts a family’s financial and emotional well-being. The DCF’s support stands as a beacon of hope, enabling families to focus on their child’s health without the burden of overwhelming financial stress. “We are incredibly grateful to our community and schools who came together to support this cause,” said Katia Conte, President and Co-Founder of the Daniela Conte Foundation. “This September, we made a significant impact in increasing awareness for childhood cancer, which often doesn’t receive the attention it deserves.”
This year alone, 15,000 children in the United States will be diagnosed with cancer. Many of these families are forced to make treatment decisions based on financial limitations rather than optimal medical care. This reality highlights the urgent need for increased awareness and support. At DCF, the commitment is unwavering: working toward a future where no family has to choose between paying bills and providing life-saving treatment for their child.
As the season of giving approaches, the Daniela Conte Foundation encourages the community to stay committed to supporting families facing a childhood cancer diagnosis. Their goal is to ensure these families have access to vital resources, unwavering support, and the hope they need to navigate such a challenging journey.
