The Danvers High School field hockey team came together for a heartfelt tribute to someone who meant so much to their program and their head coach.
The team surprised head coach Jill McGinnity by wearing T-shirts featuring the words “Coach Julie” on the back in honor of Julie Ann Spadorcia, a former Danvers High School assistant field hockey coach and McGinnity’s sister, who passed away suddenly this summer.
The gesture was a meaningful way for the student-athletes to surround their coach with love and support while honoring Julie’s connection to the Danvers field hockey community.
Moments like this demonstrate the powerful relationships that are built through high school athletics. Beyond practices, games, and competition, teams often become families—supporting one another through both celebrations and difficult times.
