The spirit of giving was abundant at Dayton Avenue Elementary School in the Eastport-South Manor Central School District recently as students and staff participated in the building’s annual Souper Bowl initiative, for which the school community worked collaboratively to collect 4,014 food items to donate to The Presbyterian Church of the Moriches in Center Moriches.
As part of the effort the building held a competition between grade levels to see who could collect the most, and third grade finished in first place with 1,747 items.
