About:
Clad in patriotic colors, students at Deer Park’s John F. Kennedy Intermediate School, John Quincy Adams Primary School and May Moore Primary School participated in annual flag planting ceremonies on Sept. 10 in remembrance of those who gave their lives on 9/11.
“Our students were excited to wear their finest red, white and blue last Friday,” said May Moore Principal Tammy Alcalde. “Saturday marked the 20th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001, a day that revealed the profound human capacity to care for one another and to recognize our common humanity in acts of spontaneous generosity and response, transcending differences of race, nationality, religion, economic strata and political affiliation. In observance of 9/11, we paid tribute to the fallen.”
“We also asked our students to do an act of kindness for a family member, friend or even a stranger in honor of those lost on Sept. 11,” said JFK Principal Kelly Benson.
