About:
This year, Deer Park High School’s Red Cross Club has extensively worked in conjunction with one of Long Island’s largest hunger relief organizations, Island Harvest. During one recent month alone, the hardworking group of almost 100 students – led by Co-Presidents Anthony Machuca and Yasmeen Syedda-Hensley and executive board members Dana Ali, Gabby Sroka and Danielle Tirado – helped to unload, package and box more than 1,460 pounds of food for hungry Long Islanders, which will be distributed to veterans and the elderly.
“It’s great to see a group of kids putting in the work after school to help their community,” said club adviser Victor LoMonaco. “It’s truly humbling, and I’m very proud of all they have accomplished this year.”
