About:
Dogwood Elementary School once again came together to honor the dedication and service of law enforcement officers during their annual Police Appreciation Day event on Thursday. Led by Principal Renee Carpenter, the celebration has become a cherished tradition—one officer even called it his favorite day of the year.
This special event recognized officers who are parents, guardians, and siblings of Dogwood students, expressing deep gratitude for their commitment to keeping the community safe. “We are incredibly proud to have members of our community who work in law enforcement,” Principal Carpenter shared. “Whether they are patrolling the streets, investigating crimes, or engaging with our community, their efforts do not go unnoticed.”
The entire school showed their appreciation by waving flags, singing songs, reciting poems, and presenting handmade cards filled with thanks. Dogwood’s leadership students added an extra touch by putting together “patrol snack bags” as a token of appreciation for the officers.
A special thank you goes to the Dogwood PTA, who generously provided breakfast for the officers before the assembly, helping make the day even more memorable.
Dogwood’s Police Appreciation Day is a meaningful reminder of the strong bond between the school and those who serve, highlighting the community’s respect and gratitude for the men and women who protect them every day.
