About:
Sixteen student “victims” at East Islip High School were “struck” by the Grim Reaper on March 18 during the Students Against Destructive Decisions Club’s (which includes student athletes in the club) annual campaign.
The chosen students spent the remainder of Ghost-Out Day wearing black shirts and remaining silent as a mute reminder of the young lives lost every 13 minutes due to substance abuse.
“Sadly, we lose students to drugs and alcohol each year” said teacher and SADD adviser Bridget Lopiccolo. “We need to open our eyes and act now to save our children. Ask questions and don’t let your child drink or drug, because what seems
to be a little thing is really just the beginning. We need parents, teachers and the community to get involved to help combat drugs and alcohol.”
