About:
A talent show at East Lake Elementary School in the Massapequa School District served two purposes. Not only did it provide students a forum to showcase their many abilities, it also reminded them about the importance of charity.
More than 90 fourth- through sixth-grade students participated in the show on April 25, which featured two daytime performances and an evening show. Acts featured singing and dance routines.
Instead of buying tickets, guests were asked to bring in canned goods and other nonperishable items for the food pantry at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Massapequa Park. Fourth-grade teacher Terri LiCausi, who has been organizing the talent show for the past decade, said this is a time of year when supplies at food pantries run low. She added that this is East Lake’s way of giving back to the community.
