About:
East Meadow and W.T. Clarke’s junior varsity and varsity softball teams played exhibition games for autism acceptance on April 23 at East Meadow High School.
Many alumni, family, friends and members of the East Meadow community attended the game to support the cause. Additionally, players, coaches and spectators wore blue to celebrate and acknowledge Autism Awareness Month.
W.T. Clarke Middle School’s team, coached by Adrienne LaVacca and Sarah Cornell, played a scrimmage on their own. The junior varsity game featured W.T. Clarke High School, coached by Sam Abanavas, and East Meadow High School, coached by Kristina Cavallo. The varsity game featured W.T. Clarke High School, coached by Rachel Barry and Alexa Salzman, and East Meadow High School, coached by Frank Baglivo and Becky Mattia.
W.T. Clarke High School alumna Shelby Soodek threw out the first pitch to kick off the celebration.
