About:
The East Rockaway High School Dignity Club held a fundraising campaign during April for Autism Awareness Month.
Dignity Club members joined students from the National Honor Society and the Skills and Achievement program to volunteer their time to hand out information flyers to educate others about autism. They also sold blue airhead candy, bracelets and stickers to benefit the Long Island chapter of Autism Speaks.
Other activities included students and staff wearing blue to “Light it up, blue” during the bake sale on April 5, and staff participating in the “wear jeans to work day” fundraiser on April 12.
The campaign raised a total of $855 in donations for LI Autism Speaks. The district is proud of the efforts students and staff have contributed to the cause.
