The East Rockaway Varsity Competitive Cheer team recently hosted cheer clinics as part of their community outreach initiative, providing Future Rocks Cheerleaders with the opportunity to learn new skills. The clinics focused on jumps, stunts, and cheer routines, all led by the talented Varsity team.
The event was a fun-filled day of learning and team spirit, with excellent participation from all involved.
All 21 members of the Varsity team played an essential role in running the winter clinic, which lasted for two hours. The clinic was divided into two sessions: one for K-2nd graders and the second for 4th-6th graders, with an additional 30 minutes for setup and breakdown.
Under the leadership of Coach Molly DeBenedetto, the Varsity athletes took charge with confidence. They handled drop-off and dismissal, led dynamic stretching, and taught the participants a cheer/dance with pom-poms, as well as some basic stunting skills. The clinic saw over 60 elementary students participate, creating a truly memorable experience for everyone involved!
