Both the East Rockaway Varsity and JV Volleyball teams recently hosted their annual Dig Pink games against Oyster Bay, and their efforts were a perfect blend of athleticism, community spirit, and heartfelt generosity. In support of breast cancer awareness, the teams raised $300 through a bake sale, with all proceeds being donated to the Susan G. Komen fund, helping to advance research and support for those impacted by breast cancer.
Beyond the fundraising efforts, the teams made sure to spread kindness off the court as well. As part of their Sportsmanship endeavor, they prepared snack bags for the Oyster Bay players to enjoy on their long ride home, as well as for the meet officials and their own game supervisors at the scorers’ table. This thoughtful gesture highlighted the team’s commitment to sportsmanship and the power of simple acts of kindness.
