Prior to the Thanksgiving holiday, Eastport-South Manor Central School District elementary students gave thanks in a variety of ways and settings.
At Tuttle Avenue Elementary School students participated in a Thanksgiving celebration, which recognized and honored all essential workers in their school and the veterans in their community. It was a morning of poetry and song as each of the grade’s classrooms donned turkey and pilgrim headdresses and took to the stage to perform a variety of Thanksgiving holiday music and to recognize the important work that the faculty and staff do each day.
At Eastport Elementary School, sixth grade students attended a Thanksgiving feast get-together. They ate their turkey and fixings, prepared by the PTO, generous parents and teacher George Marino. “I’m grateful for” placemats were also created by the students and included a family photo and a short description for which they are most thankful.
South Street Elementary School students also demonstrated generosity by donating baskets of nonperishable food items and toiletries. The baskets will be distributed throughout the community to families in need.
