About:
student leaders at Connetquot Central School District’s Edith L. Slocum Elementary School recently collected snacks, toiletries, and various care package items to be sent to American servicemen and women currently protecting our country in collaboration with an initiative spearheaded by Connetquot High School Special Education teacher Peggy Dinkleman and the Blue Star Mothers of America organization.
The national Blue Star Mothers of America was formed in 1942, while America was deeply involved in World War II. Today, Blue Star Mothers do what they can to support those who are in the service. Members spread awareness, attend local fairs and events, collect donations and continue to remind our servicemen and women that they are appreciated and respected.
