About:
Students, student athletes and teachers at Edward J. Bosti Elementary School in the Connetquot Central School District recently completed the fourth annual Wash Kit Project, compiling over 600 kits filled with toiletry items to be donated to the women and families of local homeless shelters.
Students sorted the donated items, which included soap, shampoo, toothbrushes and toothpaste, into zip lock bags along with personal notes of encouragement. The school was able to secure these items due to generous contributions from local dentist offices, businesses, members of the community and a financial grant from the Connetquot Foundation for the Advancement of Children.
“It is our hope that the students will continue to work together for a common goal, which is to empathize, and be compassionate toward others in need” said Laura Chiarelli, Wash Kit project organizer and speech and anguage therapist at Edward J. Bosti Elementary School.
Additional donations are welcome. If anyone is interested in donating items, feel free to contact Mrs. Chiarelli at Edward J. Bosti Elementary School 631-244-2291.
