About:

Congratulations to Mark Tamburro and Angelo Sperandio on receiving proclamations from Eastchester Town Supervisor, Tony Colavita! We are so very proud of you; you represent this program, EHS, your families, and the Town of Eastchester so well!

“Angelo Sperandio and Mark Tamburro should’ve been miles away when they saw a seaplane crash on the Long Island Sound on Sunday afternoon.

The two Eastchester High School seniors and three friends were jet skiing on the water between the Throggs Neck and Whitestone bridges when an object became lodged in Sperandio’s motorized watercraft. Instead of a quick trip back to shore, Sperandio and Tamburro, who play on the Eastchester football team, could only cruise back to their dock in the Bronx.

As the group was slowly heading home, they saw a small plane overhead descending toward doom.

“We would’ve been in City Island, which is 15 minutes away on the other side, far away,” said Sperandio, who quarterbacks for the Eastchester Eagles.

A single-engine seaplane broke to pieces after it crashed on the top of a concrete pier in Queens around 3 p.m. Sunday, resulting in one death and two critical injuries, according to the New York City Fire Department. The two surviving occupants, including the pilot, were rescued by Sperandio, Tamburro and their friends….” https://www.lohud.com/story/news/local/new-york/2020/10/06/eastchester-football-players-rescue-seaplane-crash-victims/3636153001/
