About:
Six Junior athletes, consisting of three boys – Anthony Kitching, Jha Bell, James Harris – and three girls – Addison Taft, Alyvia Woodruff, and Ashaya Wallace, actively participated in and facilitated various engaging basketball activities alongside the entire 6th grade at Hendy. The primary aim was to provide the 6th graders with an opportunity to interact with current Elmira Express Athletes, preparing them for their potential role as Express Athletes in Middle School next year. Transitioning into school-level sports marks a significant milestone for students, and having role models at that level is crucial for their development.
Furthermore, Saige requested the High Schoolers to observe the students closely during the activities, noting those who exhibited dedication, positivity, and teamwork, so that we could commend their efforts. At the conclusion of each session, the Express athletes awarded certificates and medals to nine deserving students, much to their delight and surprise. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience for all involved, and Zack Lloyd ( Athletic Director) demonstrated excellent judgment in selecting the basketball players to represent the High School.
