About:
The Fairport High School baseball community is once again stepping up to make a difference through the annual Strike Out Cancer game hosted by Penfield. This year’s event carries special meaning as it honors Mrs. Ronzo, a member of the Penfield community who loved baseball and cherished the time she spent cheering from the sidelines alongside friends and family.
To support the cause, Fairport’s varsity and JV baseball players and coaches will proudly wear special Strike Out Cancer t-shirts and hoodies to school the Friday before the game and during warmups ahead of the April 25 matchup. The apparel helps raise funds while also spreading awareness throughout the school community.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will support the Pluta Integrative Oncology and Wellness Center, helping provide care, support, and resources for individuals and families facing cancer. The initiative allows players, coaches, and fans to come together around the shared goal of honoring Mrs. Ronzo’s memory while supporting an organization dedicated to improving the lives of those battling cancer.
The Fairport baseball program is also inviting fans and community members to take part by purchasing shirts or hoodies through the team’s order form. Supporters can also make an additional donation through the form, further strengthening the impact of the effort.
Events like the Strike Out Cancer game highlight how high school athletics can bring communities together for causes that matter. By combining the spirit of competition with compassion and service, the Fairport baseball program continues to demonstrate leadership both on and off the field.
