About:
On October 22, the Fairport Volleyball teams united for a meaningful cause, hosting their annual Pink Out match against Penfield. The gym was awash in pink as players, coaches, and fans came together to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research.
At the start of the season, varsity athletes from both the Girls and Boys Fairport Volleyball teams reached out to the local community for sponsorships, with sponsors’ names proudly displayed on the back of their Breast Cancer Awareness (BCA) shirts. Funds raised from these sponsorships, along with proceeds from raffles, concessions, and donations during the Pink Out event, totaled $3,000 and will be donated to the Pluta Cancer Center, a local facility that provides cancer care.
Before the match, the team presented a check to a Pluta Cancer Center employee who is also a Fairport Volleyball alum, adding a personal and heartfelt touch to the night. This marks the fourth year of the Pink Out match, showcasing not only the athletic talent of the players but also their dedication to making a difference through community service.
The true victory was the overwhelming support for this important cause, highlighting the power of community involvement and the lasting impact it can create.
