About:
Hayden Kirk was a Daler alumni, class of 2010. He was a very close friend of mine. He passed In December. He was a Goalie for the boys lacrosse team at Farmingdale. His sister is now a coach at St. John The Baptist.
We scheduled a non league game this year between our teams to create the first Hayden Kirk Memorial Game to give support to the Kirk Family and honor the amazing person Hayden was. The team helped design and sell sweatshirts, t-shirts, and long sleeve shirts. They sold waters, snacks and gatorades and had a donation set up for those who just wanted to contribute. Car magnets were also sold.
The game brought in a nice crowd all their for the love of Hayden and the Kirk’s. From the moment my team knew about Hayden and the impact it had on me as their coach and the community around them- the girls on my team were beyond supportive.
The money raised will be put towards the first Hayden Kirk Memorial Scholarship that is awarded to 1 boy lacrosse senior and 1 girls lacrosse senior. They have to write an essay explaining how they embody good character, determination and passion and how they lead by example both on and off the field.
The Kirk family will then pick from their essays.
The final count of money is around $7000 raised. We hope to continue this each year to give back to the community and show the true meaning behind daler pride . (Information provided by Coach Melanie Raso)
