About:
As the Thanksgiving season approaches, Farmingdale State College student-athletes are once again demonstrating what it means to lead with purpose. Over the past week, the FSC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) organized a campus-wide food drive benefiting Island Harvest — collecting an impressive 233 pounds of food to support local individuals and families facing food insecurity.
This marks the fourth year of the initiative, and its impact continues to grow thanks to the leadership of FSC’s student-athlete representatives. On Wednesday afternoon, members of SAAC delivered the collected items to Island Harvest, part of the Feeding America nationwide network of food banks, food pantries, and community meal programs.
Representing the effort at the drop-off were track & field and cross country student-athlete and SAAC vice president Gabriel Aguilar, along with women’s lacrosse student-athletes Carly Livingston (SAAC treasurer) and Giavanna Stamatelo. Their continued leadership underscores the role student-athletes play in strengthening their communities both on and off the field.
This initiative is a powerful example of how Division III student-athletes embody the “Why D3” spirit — building character, fostering connection, and making a difference through service.
