About:
For the second consecutive year, the Farmingdale State College men’s and women’s tennis programs came together to make the holiday season brighter by adopting a local family through Options for Community Living (@options4cl).
Team captains from both programs led the initiative, organizing the purchase of gifts for both adults and children. Student-athletes from the men’s and women’s teams gathered on campus to wrap the gifts together and personally deliver them, turning the experience into a meaningful team-building moment beyond the tennis court.
Head Coach Adam Waterhouse praised the players for their commitment to giving back, highlighting how the project strengthened team chemistry and fostered connections between the two programs. By working together for a shared cause, the student-athletes were able to bond in a new way while making a tangible impact in their local community.
Student-athletes Ryan Hendel and MacKenzie Gisler also reflected on the experience, sharing that the initiative helped unite both teams while reinforcing the importance of service and compassion during the holiday season.
This annual effort exemplifies the values of leadership, collaboration, and community engagement that define Farmingdale State athletics. Through their continued partnership with Options for Community Living, the Rams tennis programs are showing that teamwork extends far beyond competition—making a difference where it matters most.
