About:
Student Leadership at Freeport’s Leo F. Giblyn Elementary School helped organize the school’s fourth annual Souper Bowl.
During the last week of January, the school participated in the Great Kindness Challenge, where all students completed checklists consisting of acts of kindness at home. There were also schoolwide challenges each day, where the students were encouraged to sit with someone new at lunch or play with someone new at recess for Reach Out Monday; and encouraged to write letters to thank someone on Inspiration Tuesday.
On Friday, students were asked to bring in canned soup or other canned goods to donate to Our Holy Redeemer Church Outreach in Freeport in an effort to help defeat hunger. In one day, the school collected 632 cans of food.
