About:
Student-athletes from Friends Academy recently helped inspire the next generation of athletes during a special middle school assembly celebrating National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
During the event, six Upper School student-athletes spoke with 7th- and 8th-grade students about the powerful role athletics has played in their lives. The student leaders shared personal stories about their experiences competing at Friends Academy and reflected on the many lessons they have gained through sports.
The athletes spoke about the importance of getting involved in athletics and encouraged younger students to try joining a team. They also highlighted some of their favorite memories competing for the school while explaining how sports have helped them develop valuable life skills such as leadership, resilience, teamwork, and confidence.
Another key message shared with the middle school students was the belief that hard work and dedication can open doors to playing sports at the next level.
Above all, the Upper School athletes emphasized one important message to the younger students: there is a team for everyone. Whether students participate for fun, friendship, personal growth, or competitive goals, athletics can play an important role in shaping who they become both on and off the field.
By stepping into leadership roles and mentoring younger students, these athletes from Friends Academy demonstrated how sports can build community, inspire confidence, and empower the next generation of student-athletes.
