As a joint endeavor, Arrowhead Elementary School kindergarten students in Jennifer Giambalvo class teamed up with the building’s student council to organize a fundraiser for Juvenile Diabetes research.
The students created an event “T-shirts for type 1,” which called for students and staff to wear their favorite T-shirts on two consecutive Tuesday during diabetes awareness month and donate a dollar to the cause. To help symbolize the effort, the kindergarten students made and colored hearts for each $1 donated. And the student council helped the class hang the hearts and make announcements. In total, the fundraiser raised $512.
