About:
Garden City Boys’ Basketball is rallying its community tonight for a powerful Blackout for Breast Cancer Night, turning game night into an opportunity to raise awareness and support a cause that extends far beyond the court.
Trojan Nation is encouraged to wear black, fill the stands, and cheer on the team as Garden City takes on Friends Academy. Students, families, fans, and supporters will come together in a unified show of solidarity, reinforcing that the night is about more than basketball.
The event is held in collaboration with Adelphi University, with all fundraising efforts benefiting the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program. Funds will be raised through prize ticket sales and donations, both in person and online, making it easy for the entire community to participate and give back.
In support of the cause, the team will wear special jerseys for the game, further highlighting the importance of the evening and the program’s commitment to standing with those affected by breast cancer.
Led by the boys’ basketball program and supported by the wider school community, Blackout for Breast Cancer Night showcases the powerful role student-athletes can play in raising awareness and driving meaningful impact. By combining school spirit with service, the Garden City Trojans are demonstrating how high school athletics can unite communities and turn competition into purpose—proving that some of the most important wins happen off the scoreboard.
