About:
Garden City students are lending a hand to community members in need ahead of Thanksgiving. Garden City High School and Garden City Middle School held food drives to assist organizations who aim to fight hunger across Long Island.
The Middle School community came together to donate nearly 2,700 items of food and non-perishables to Island Harvest. The generosity of students was displayed even further as they helped pack up the Island Harvest truck with the thousands of donations. Island Harvest is Long Island’s largest hunger-relief organization, and the donations will go to its network of local food pantries.
The Garden City High School Class of 2025 hosted a food drive on Saturday, Nov. 20. The collected items benefitted the Interfaith Nutrition Network, a local nonprofit that assists those challenged by hunger. During the drive, students dressed up in turkey costumes and put smiles on peoples’ faces as they encouraged the act of giving ahead of the holiday.
