About:
We have 51 student-athletes in our program that volunteered about 2-3 hours during the 6 hour event on Saturday. The preparation really starts back in October. Mary Whittier is a parent volunteer within our; who has become passionate about promoting/coordinating this event. She has really pushed our program to begin donating for the Day of Giving.
On Saturday 12/14
With the support of district administration and the Athletic Director Mr. Weimer, starting at 8 am the coaches/players sort the donated clothing, bedding, and decorations at Victor Town hall. The clothing is sorted onto tables according to gender and sizing of the clothing. We have a team sorting and restocking items. As the day moves along, the athletes greet families as they walk in, help with child watch, carry out selected items to vehicles, and help any family as they look for items. On Saturday 12/14 we assisted about 350 people that day. Once the clothing drive ends, our programs bags all remaining items up and cleans up the Town hall meeting room.
I have attached the flyer for the Day of Giving that occurred this past Saturday. As you can see from the flyer there many events happening. It takes many people for the event to work. We are fortunate to be a part of the event. I can say personally it is a magical event. We have a tremendous community and I am very proud of our student-athletes each and every year. I am also lucky to have the support of our entire coaching staff. Each of the coaches volunteer for the event and sends a great message to our student-athletes about giving back to our community.
