About:
The idea started with Jason Rutkauskas, who reached out to our boys varsity coach, Armando Marnoto to set up a game between our 2 boys varsity soccer teams as part of “Red Card for Cancer” for the American Cancer Society. From there, games were added between Gloucester and Rockport JV & Girls Varsity as well. GHS Boys Soccer Boosters are happy to share that we sent a $1,000.00 donation to the American Cancer Society from the boys boosters. This donation was made possible by the combined efforts of many who participated in the Red Card for Cancer soccer event hosted by GHS boys soccer on Saturday, October 8, 2022.
Also participating were Rockport High School soccer programs & Coach Jason Rutkauskas of Rockport and GHS girls varsity soccer. The Boys Boosters donated a combination of earnings from our raffles, 50/50, donations, and our concession sales, as well as cancer awareness bracelet sales (donated by Lisa Caron.) We are grateful for all who played soccer for this event, as well as those who donated food and raffle items, including Classic Cooks, Markouk Bread, & Sclafani Bakery, as well as all who volunteered their time that day!
Please see attached flyer/poster which includes a fantastic photo of some of our Gloucester boys from the day, taken by Dawn Enos!
