About:

There are approximately 40 student/athletes that are participating in the game.  The game consists of players from 2 local Varsity hockey programs.

The players are helping by promoting the game within their respective schools.  The sponsoring team gives a portion of admission sales to the American Cancer Society Relay for life team.  Also at the game, raffles etc are sold and profits also go to the Relay for life team.  The more the game is promoted by the student athletes, the larger the attendance equates to more potential donations.  This year we added pregame tshirt sales that one of the student athletes assisted in designing.

Four years ago, a Relay for Life representative approached the 2 head coaches about an idea he had to raise funds for the American Cancer Society and promote High School Varsity Ice Hockey.  Each team rotates who will host the event and how they will fundraiser.  Since no one has not been touched by cancer they agreed easily to participate.  This year we have been able to add a pep band and T-shirts to the event.  This event remains in its infancy due to COVID, but it’s impact has been noticeable to both teams.

** The Storm provides students from Guilderland, Mohonasen, Scotia-Glenville, Voorheesville, and Schalmont with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play high school hockey at the NYSPHSAA Division I level in their own communities for their own peers.  The Storm competes in Section 2 (Capital District) and in special tournaments throughout the state.
