About:
First, it is a charity that primarily focuses on improving the lives of those affected by cancer. Cancer affects just about all of us whether we have a family member or know of someone that has been diagnosed with cancer or unfortunately lost their battle to cancer.
This information is directly from their website
“At the HEADstrong Foundation, we offer financial, residential, and emotional support to families affected by cancer. We are based just outside of Philadelphia, where patients often travel seeking care and leaving their homes behind. We support cancer patients and their families with peer support, comfort kits, financial help and lodging for families who have no place to stay while in the Philadelphia area.”
The HEADstrong foundation was the dream and mission of former Hofstra lacrosse player Nick Colleluori who passed away from cancer at the age of 21. While undergoing treatment Nick took notice of the resources lacking for cancer patients. The foundation is run by Nick’s family to this day.
Second, by myself and Coach Mogavero were collegiate lacrosse players and have played in tournaments and events to raise $ and awareness for HEADstrong foundation, so we are very familiar with the cause. What better way than to continue to use lacrosse as a medium to support such a great cause that originated from the dream and mission of a . former lacrosse player who unfortunately lost his battle at such a young age.
