About:
Physical education classes at Grand Avenue Middle School in the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District recently completed a jump rope-a-thon raising $6,426.50 for the American Heart Association.
The Jump Rope for Heart program is a two-week unit in physical education class in which students participate in a variety of jumping activities.
During this time students volunteer to collect money from friends and family.
“Students learn the lifelong benefits of cardiovascular exercise and how it leads to a healthy heart,” said Donna Greco, a physical education teacher.
Project coordinators George Bossert, Donna Greco and Carrie Perkins would like to thank the students and community for their tremendous support.
Top fundraisers were Hannah Broxmeyer, Casey Cascio, Lauren Duany, Max Hahn, Jonathan Kokura, Jared Levine, Massimo Marino, Ted Piccininni, Ian Peckman, Riley Peckman, Lena Roseman, Nick Salas and Skylar Ward.
