About:
We just wrapped up a fall clinic with Pittsford Little League that went fantastically. The clinic was run on 3 consecutive Sunday’s this October (16th, 23rd, 30th) and was free for any Pittsford LIttle League softball players. We had 52 little leaguers registered to attend the clinics.
I had 10 of my players helping out with the camp over the three sessions. They would be responsible for running a station, and instructing the little leaguers as they rotated throughout the stations. (Hitting, fielding [infield and outfield], bunting, baserunning, and tee work)
Each clinic lasted 2 hours, but the girls would be there half an hour before to set up and half an hour after to help break down the stations. So if they helped out at all three sessions they had a total of 9 hours of volunteering.
We did this as a way to continue to build a strong connection between the high school programs and the little league program. All of the girls that are playing varsity played Pittsford Little League at some point, so it was a great way to continue our partnership with the community. It’s great for the little leaguers to work with the high school players (little girls love big girls) and it was great for the high school athletes to work with the younger girls. It helps build a sense of responsibility, compassion, and patience.
It wa a blast, the girls had a lot of fun… both the big girls and the younger girls as well.
