About:
Student-athletes at Horace Greeley High School are proving that leadership and teamwork extend far beyond competition through their impactful community service efforts with the school’s Midnight Run Club.
During one of the coldest weeks of the winter season, members of the club traveled to Manhattan to support individuals experiencing homelessness. Students worked together to deliver essential supplies and donations, including items that are especially critical during freezing temperatures. Their efforts helped provide warmth, comfort, and much-needed resources to those facing difficult circumstances.
The Midnight Run experience also gave student-athletes an opportunity to strengthen important life skills such as communication, collaboration, and problem-solving. By interacting directly with community members and organizing meaningful service work, students turned empathy into action while gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges others may face.
Initiatives like this highlight the powerful role athletics and student leadership programs can play in fostering compassion and civic responsibility. Greeley’s commitment to service continues to make a positive impact both within the school community and beyond, demonstrating how young leaders can come together to support others when it matters most.
