About:
H. Frank Carey’s Saving Our Society Club was introduced to two guest speakers who discussed a multitude of possible charitable events club members could participate in.
Students learned about Uganda and how they could help the Ugandan children by making shoes out of jeans. Most Ugandan children become crippled and some have their feet amputated due to foot-related diseases, caused by not wearing shoes because they cannot afford them.
The SOS Club, led by adviser Roi Daconto, has joined forces with Sole Hope and made a commitment to help the Ugandan children live healthier lives. The students enjoyed a fun-filled day of ripping apart old jeans, making patterns and cutting the jeans, knowing that the discarded jeans were going to make a child smile.
