About:

Great job by our members working during this holiday season to wrap and donate gifts to those less fortunate.

For the past three years, Harborfields High School Physical Education teacher Suzanne Legge has adopted families for the holidays as part of a holiday gift drive for Adults and Children with Learning Disabilities Inc. (ACLD.)

This year, Harborfields High School’s Athletes Helping Athletes and Best Buddies programs joined Ms. Legge in her mission to give back. Together, they adopted 114 adults and children within the Bethpage-based nonprofit organization, which serves over 3,000 adults and kids on Long Island with developmental disabilities.

Club members met after school on Dec. 14 to wrap gifts, ranging from simple toys to winter coats and boots.

“I never thought we would get so many generous people donating due to this pandemic,” Ms. Legge said. “To say we are making spirits bright is a true understatement.”
