About:
This spring, the Harborfields Varsity and Junior Varsity Baseball teams traded their gloves for gardening tools as they stepped off the field and into their community to support a cause close to home. Partnering with the Greenlawn Civic Association, the teams participated in the annual spring cleanup along Broadway and around the Greenlawn LIRR station—making a visible impact on the neighborhood they’re proud to represent.
A total of 30 players and three coaches came out to lend a hand, tackling a variety of cleanup tasks. The athletes rolled up their sleeves to remove trash, weed flower beds, and lay down fresh mulch along Broadway and the train station area. Their dedication and hard work helped revitalize key parts of the community, bringing fresh life and color just in time for spring.
“This was a wonderful experience for our student-athletes,” said Coach Ian Schneider. “It was a beautiful day, and the team did a great job working together to help out the community. The Harborfields and Greenlawn communities are filled with incredible people and businesses, so it felt great to give back to a place that supports us tirelessly.”
Coach Schneider added, “It was great to take a step back and see the Harborfields Baseball program enthusiastically working together, sharing a few laughs, and bonding with each other—all while giving back to this incredible Harborfields family.”
