About:
Student leaders from Harborfields High School are making a meaningful impact by turning compassion into action through their “Walking on Sunshine” event benefiting Corey’s Promise.
Started last year by the Harborfields Leadership class and teacher Mr. Greg Taylor, the initiative has quickly become a growing tradition focused on supporting childhood cancer patients, research, and families in need. Community members were invited to donate and walk the school track during the two-and-a-half-hour event, creating a powerful atmosphere centered around hope, support, and togetherness.
Students played a major role in organizing and running the event, coordinating activities that included food, raffle baskets, music from student bands and DJs, and other community-centered experiences throughout the day. Their leadership, teamwork, and dedication helped create an uplifting event that brought students, families, and supporters together for an important cause.
This year’s event raised approximately $600 for Corey’s Promise, while last year’s fundraiser generated several thousand dollars to support the organization’s mission. Corey’s Promise continues to make a significant impact locally by providing relief for cancer patients and their families, including maintaining a room at the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
More than just a fundraiser, “Walking on Sunshine” reflects the powerful difference student-led service initiatives can make within a community—building connections, inspiring others, and creating lasting impact through purpose-driven action
